Implant Size
Implant size will be determined during consultation, considering factors such as body type, desired outcome, and tissue characteristics. The goal is to achieve a balanced and proportional enhancement that aligns with your goals and anatomy.
Implant Shape
When it comes to implant shape, patients choose between round and teardrop-shaped implants. Round implants have a uniform circular configuration and offer fullness in both the upper and lower poles of the breast, while teardrop implants mimic the natural slope of the breast for a more full appearance. There are also different textures to round implants, with firmer styles (Xtra or Boost implants) providing a more defined circular shape for patients who prefer more enhancement of their upper pole and a bolder look.
Implant Placement
Implant placement refers to the position of the implants relative to the chest muscles. The choice depends on factors such as your chest anatomy, implant type, lifestyle preferences, and desired outcomes. The different pocket options include subglandular, subfascial, and submuscular or dual plane. In a subglandular pocket, the implant is placed underneath the breast tissues. In a subfascial pocket, the implant is also placed underneath the breast tissues, but also underneath a thin layer of tissue which is the muscular fascia, which can sometimes provide more support. Lastly, in a submuscular or dual-plane pocket, the implant is placed partially underneath the muscle or pectoralis major. There are different nuances that will determine which pocket location is ideal for you, but nonetheless, Dr. Li can perform all of these techniques.
Incision Placement
Incision placement is another aspect of breast augmentation, with common options including in the breast fold, around the edge of the nipple, and transaxillary (in the armpit). Each approach offers distinct advantages and considerations.
